Sialkot Lahore Motorway
Among vital development projects of Sialkot there is an initiative to build Sialkot
Lahore Motorway in order to link these two most industrial centers of Punjab, province
of Pakistan. Sialkot Lahore Motorway will be a six lane motorway that will not only
pave way to traverse export products, goods but also decrease the distance time
between Sialkot and Lahore up to 50 minutes. Thus presence of LSM plays a significant
role for leveraging Pakistani economy.
Sialkot Lahore Motorway is also termed as “Shahrah-e-Sanat”, (Trade Route) and sometimes
referred as Lahore Sialkot Motorway (LSM) too. During 2007 the then President General
Pervez Musharraf laid the foundation of this project. The progress of Sialkot Lahore
Motorway is underway and hopes that it will be accomplished in 2010. It will originate
from Sambrial, tehsil of Sialkot (also known for Sialkot Dry Port established there)
and will end near Lahore. There are seventy underpasses, eight flyovers, seven interchanges
and forty bridges are expected to be raised during development of Sialkot Lahore
Motorway. Also there are prospects of including two universities and three industrial
zones along Sialkot Lahore Motorway. We recommend you to visit Sialkot City Maps
